Proposed summary of the content:

Ignition and Butane (~15 min)

FCOS (~15 min)

JaimeMagiera commented 11 months ago

Brendan Sheppard did this vide on his own and offered for us to use it or he can record one with more specifics.

Here's the blog post which we can promote along the same lines. https://www.okd.io/blog/2023-07-18-State-of-Affairs-in-OKD-CI-CD/

OKD on SCOS Build - proposed summary:

A more or less similar presentation was presented at DevConf.cz (Video link : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ShlFI2sftA&pp=ygUzZGV2Y29uZi5jeiAyMDIzIGJ1aWxkaW5nIGNsb3VkIG5hdGl2ZSBkaXN0cmlidXRpb25z)

GeoEducator commented 11 months ago

what about hardware preparation for fcos/scos implementation, even if you use a VM, how much space and resources should it have?

LorbusChris commented 9 months ago

@travier do you have a talk recording we could use here for an intro to FCOS?

travier commented 9 months ago

Proposed slides for FCOS: https://siosm.fedorapeople.org/2023%20OKD%20Foundations%20Video%20Series%20-%20Fedora%20CoreOS.pdf

travier commented 9 months ago

I should probably change the last slide to focus on OKD.

travier commented 9 months ago

And here is the Ignition and Butane one: https://siosm.fedorapeople.org/2023%20OKD%20Foundations%20Video%20Series%20-%20Ignition%20and%20Butane.pdf

I've also updated the FCOS one.

We need to talk about the FCOS/SCOS relationship somewhere. Currently we have FCOS positioning then jump straight into an SCOS build. Ideally we should explain that CoreOS features are common to FCOS/SCOS?

lmzuccarelli commented 8 months ago

@travier great slide deck, content is very informative.

binnes commented 8 months ago

Slides are really good - can we get the template and reuse it across the series, so the videos have some common look and feel?

GeoEducator commented 8 months ago

is there any info for user base or a set of customers, when is it better to use fcos vs scos? machineconfig, is there a bare minimum config?

binnes commented 8 months ago

Should we add some more specific links (or QR codes on slide) so people can jump to technical content. Also would be worth pointing out where other videos will be created to go deeper

travier commented 8 months ago

Can we get the template and reuse it across the series, so the videos have some common look and feel?

The slide template is available at https://github.com/fedoradesign/fedora-presentation-template and I've replaced some Fedora logos with the OKD panda one instead. I folks want a Google Slide template I can also share that on demand.

travier commented 8 months ago

I'll try to add an FCOS/SCOS/RHCOS section or split it into its own presentation.

Edit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L4tk3b5uTEI could act as a starting point but is a bit light on details.

travier commented 8 months ago

OK, I've updated both presentations to mention FCOS & SCOS more explicitly and included more SCOS context in the FCOS one which is now an FCOS + SCOS one:

(Updated again to use the OKD QR Code at the end)

JaimeMagiera commented 8 months ago

Community Development reviewed and likes it. Please move ahead with recording as able. Thank you!

travier commented 8 months ago

Here are the videos:

They need a little bit of editing to cut a few seconds at the beginning and the end. I'll do that soon if folks are good with the recordings.

Looks like the first one was published as https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LKE683356WY
