Learnings for GODI: We don’t know how people perceived a website, or how they navigate it exactly. What buttons and links stand out? How can links and other sections be named better? These are all It is hard to untangle individual experience and website architecture. Some of our users are domain experts who frequently consult government websites or data portals. Also an unusual design can make it harder for a user to find data. We only capture one single assessment per person and dataset. Therefore we cannot compare how different users perceive data findability. Perception of findability does not overlap with path taken to find data. Some We could not find a clear pattern between the steps undertaken to find data, and easy of finding data. For example some reviewers answered data is “easily findable” but described fairly elaborate ways of finding the data. Some users only looked for some data and finished their search prematurely. Submitters are sometimes very vague, or offer generic answers like “I googled for data”. Future improvements can include to allow more people to assess findability (requires more submitters).
