Signing into dashboard/account #168

I have been having a lot of issues with getting to my dashboard and projects. Every time I sign in I get a page that says "Not Found." This despite the fact that I have created a project. It's as though something needs to be reset. Am I able to do anything on my end to fix this?

Could you link to your user account on timemapper so we can investigate.

MelanieHubbard commented 9 years ago

That's the issue. When I try to go to my account, it tells me "not found." After that when I try to go back to the TimeMapper homepage it tells me "not found." It's like it gets stuck in limbo. My username is melaniehubbard7.

@MelanieHubbard we are looking into this but haven't found the cause yet - your individual timemaps seem to be working find and your account info looks correct. We will dig further.

Thank you!

A student of my is reporting similar issues. She sent me the following:

I have been trying to connect my TimeMapper spreadsheet to the website, but seem to be facing some complications.

The first time I tried it, on Friday night, whenever I hit "Create Timemapper," it would bring me to a page that read, "Conflict - Object already exists" or "Page Not Found."

Today, when I tried again, it just remains on the "Loading data..." page (for hours), and never actually creates the connected spreadsheet.

*In response, I told her to create a new spreadsheet or try a dummy twitter account and she said the following:

Neither method seem to be working. When I try to sign in with either twitter account (my personal one or the dummy one you provided) TimeMapper fails to reconnect me to the main page where I am to create my spreadsheet. It brings me to the "Not found" page. Then, when I attempt to upload my new spreadsheet anonymously, it leaves me with "Loading data..." for hours.

I think one thing that has happened with a student is that she did not "publish to the web". Once she went back and did this, the link between the spreadsheet and TM was "corrupted" for lack of a better word. It's like once there is a problem, it is not possible to refresh it/ start over. I may be having a similar problem with my account.

Here, this should be more helpful. I have made a screen capture video of the issue: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_-QaBgd88g4&feature=youtu.be

i have the same problem. i created everything, and connected to twitter. But as soon as i log in i get the same "not found" message as in the video above. The test timeline i have made keeps "loading data" at: http://timemapper.okfnlabs.org/toonrijk/tijdlijn.

jvhout,

As you can see, I have not heard back after posting my video (I would still like to) but I eventually found a work around: don't sign in to Twitter, just use the anonymous option. It's not ideal but it works. Also, make sure you have published the Google spreadsheet, that may be why the data is not loading.
