Connect, Customize and Publish stops with error message #96

Started at issue #76 @rgrp: Thanks for your reply. There must be something else. First I tried https://docs.google.com/a/okfn.org/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AgMQuQ9EoBCAdGFFLTZock1Hb3hDRlVUSVJ1ZDRvT1E#gid=0 and got the same message "Please fill in the field". Then I got the link from my original spreadsheet: shared_spreadsheet which is https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AgMQuQ9EoBCAdGFFLTZock1Hb3hDRlVUSVJ1ZDRvT1E&usp=sharing With this link I got first the message, that the document is not accessible: message_not_accessible When I used "Connect and Publish" again, the message "Please fill in the field" followed. I also tried https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AgMQuQ9EoBCAdGFFLTZock1Hb3hDRlVUSVJ1ZDRvT1E#gid=0 and https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AgMQuQ9EoBCAdGFFLTZock1Hb3hDRlVUSVJ1ZDRvT1E with the same results.

Worked for me immediately using https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AgMQuQ9EoBCAdGFFLTZock1Hb3hDRlVUSVJ1ZDRvT1E#gid=0. Here's the result: http://timemapper.okfnlabs.org/rufuspollock/sizilien

@thtbln we should really start a separate issue here rather than abuse this one (if we continue to find problems!)

@rgrp I tried https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AgMQuQ9EoBCAdGFFLTZock1Hb3hDRlVUSVJ1ZDRvT1E#gid=0 this time, unfortunately with the same result: error_message

What browser are you using? Also try pasting in the link and waiting for a second. What's odd there is that you should see some fields appear with the title and slug for you to fill in and they are not there ...

thtbln commented 10 years ago

I'm using Firefox 20.0.1, and the fields you mentioned never appeared.

rufuspollock commented 10 years ago

What happens if you ignore that message and just hit "connect and publish" again? Also what happens if you paste the url and then hit "tab" key to move off that field?

thtbln commented 10 years ago

Every time I hit "connect and publish" the message appears. If I paste the URL and hit TAB, "connect and publish" is marked.

Can you possibly try a different browser such as chrome. I just can't reproduce your issue in either firefox or chrome :-( ... (one last thought: you are definitely including the http:// at the front of the url ...)

thtbln commented 10 years ago

It worked with Firefox 25.0: http://timemapper.okfnlabs.org/thtbln/sizilien-und-mittelmeerraum Yes, I always included http:// or https:// respectively.

INVALID / DUPLICATE. Turned out to be a browser bug - see #103 for more on this.
