Quality Issues #51

Open tuxiqae opened 5 years ago

tuxiqae commented 5 years ago

Hi Okonek, I've started using tidal-cli-client a couple of hours ago and it seems that the quality is really low on either "LOSELESS" or "HIGH", I only tried it on Dream Theater. I'm using (updated) Arch Linux, Aune X1s as DAC, Fostex TH-X00 as the headphones.

Thanks!

What do you mean by a very low quality? Could you describe it?

tuxiqae commented 5 years ago

The sound is of low quality, maybe stuttering and such.. Not something you would expect when using Tidal

The problem propably lies on the side of mpv-your computer. Have you tried playing some music directly in mpv?

tuxiqae commented 5 years ago

I just tried for the first time, and it seems like you are right - playing a song (Dream Theater - Dance of Eternity 44.1KHz - FLAC audio bitstream data, 16 bit, stereo, 44.1 kHz, 16479876 samples) sounds much better using Strawberry than using mpv. Do you have any ideas as to why it might happen? I will try researching the issue online and let you know in case I find anything

I'll also do a little research and try to find out what's causing this problem. Also I think about adding support for more players, beyond mpv.
