Miners mining in flagshipbase kill it #155

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

Miners mining in or close to the flagshipbase drain it's HP.

Maybe fix it by changing the weapon to one that does no AoE or a weapon that
never misses.

Sorry if this is a duplicate, it feels like one but i can't find it anywhere in
the list.

problem is that spring can no do 0 damage, its rounded to 1.
"a weapon that never misses" would be very desireable, a invisible vlauncher
rocket could be worth trying. i think a bit of AoE and spraying actually helps
the miners always hitting the rocks (which is important)

will try making a gadget to void damage done by miners to all units except
resources but not sure if it will work. dont feel like testing weapon values
for hours.

but i better make a cool mining sound first because this is only prioritiy
"medium" and sound is "high" ;)

verticle launch rockets are some of the most inaccurate weapons I've seen in
spring.

It needs to be a high velocity laser with accuracy = 0.

"verticle launch rockets are some of the most inaccurate weapons I've seen in

That is like saying "tanks are always so weak in spring", its all in the game
numbers.
just because BA or whatever game you saw them in uses them as inaccurate
weapons does not mean they can not be made accurrete.

"It needs to be a high velocity laser with accuracy = 0."
cant fire through/over ground to mine rocks in craters etc.
unless the lasers fires from an invisible point above the unit, then it might
work.

"invisible point above the unit"
i dont know my way around upspring and dont have the model files but if
somebody adds such a piece i will experiment with it.
or multiple points for testing. with screenshot please where the points are.

For some reason the miners were doing 15 damage to buildings per shot. This
was reduced to 1. Hopefully the effect will be much less severe now.

Weapon was also given complete accuracy, and increased velocity.

Problem with armordef. I thought I had armor set up so that rocks use a class
"Minerals" but it probally got lost when copying over from CT_Harvest or
something.
Anyway, use Armordef.

"Weapon was also given complete accuracy, and increased velocity."
Miners now have trouble targeting: http://h-2.abload.de/img/cantshootlbs5.png
Also try attacking ground, the shots do not hit where you clicked.
Too high weaponspeed actually decreases accurracy because the shots can travel
through hitspheres before a hit is detected. With the small distances used,
weaponspeed should hardly matter anyway.

I guess it is a problem with the firing & aiming points being moved.
=> "invisible point above the unit" still desired.
