Help required to update okta and oktapreview in oktaconfig.xml file #94

Closed GnanaPriyaNamasivayam closed 1 year ago

GnanaPriyaNamasivayam commented 2 years ago

Describe the bug?

I'm able to add the okta configuration for my okta-preview like below and it works fine. image

Based on my project requirement, I have a production and development endpoint whenever I use prod endpoint okta supposed to trigger and for dev endpoint - okta-preview config supposed to trigger.

I need both okta and okta-preview configurations to be set up.

I need to add okta endpoints as well in oktaconfig.xml.

How can I achieve my requirement? Any suggestions?

What is expected to happen?

Expecting the way to add two different okta endpoints in the android project.

What is the actual behavior?

I tried to add two different configs in a single oktaconfig.xml however it's using only the first endpoint set.

Reproduction Steps?

You can check any basic sample with two different okta endpoints.

@GnanaPriyaNamasivayam Thanks for reaching out! The Okta.Xamarin Sdk does not specifically support the use case you describe using the config file to create multiple clients. I've entered an internal issue to provide an example of how to programmatically create and use multiple clients. This will need to be prioritized against other work.

bryanapellanes-okta commented 1 year ago

@GnanaPriyaNamasivayam Thanks for your patience! To use different configurations, instantiate different OktaContext instances using the overload of the OktaContext.InitAsync method that takes an IOktaConfig instance. The following example assumes you have 2 xml config files compiled as Android assets:

OktaContext oktaContext1 = await OktaPlatform.InitAsync(this, AndroidOktaConfig.LoadFromXmlStream(this.Assets.Open("Config1.xml")));
oktaContext1.SignInCompleted += (sender, args) => Shell.Current.GoToAsync("//ProfilePage", true);
oktaContext1.SignOutCompleted += (sender, args) => Shell.Current.GoToAsync("//ProfilePage", true);

OktaContext oktaContext2 = await OktaPlatform.InitAsync(this, AndroidOktaConfig.LoadFromXmlStream(this.Assets.Open("Config2.xml")));
oktaContext1.SignInCompleted += (sender, args) => Shell.Current.GoToAsync("//ProfilePage", true);
oktaContext1.SignOutCompleted += (sender, args) => Shell.Current.GoToAsync("//ProfilePage", true);

Include your own logic to track the contexts as necessary. I hope this helps, please feel free to re-open if you need anything further. Thanks for using Okta!
