Name and SMS are read without headphones in Discreet mode #30

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
Hi!

I installed the latest "SayMyName Dessert" today on my milestone (2.0.1).
Unfortunately the name and the SMS are still read without headphones - even
if "Discreet" is activated.

Kind regards, Jens

Thanks, I'll try to fix it!

Thank you for your prompt response. That would be great! Your app is very
helpful,
but my girlfriend is not amused about my permanently speaking mobile phone.
;-)))

This happens on Droid with Android v. 2.1-Update1 also. Version 2.1 of the OS
was
supposed to fix some issues with removing/inserting headphones and seemed to
for me.
Not sure if this is related or not.

Please try again with SayMyName Dessert 2.2 (available at the Android Market).

I haven't tried with discreet on and no headphones plugged in. Right now I
have discreet on and the headphones plugged in but SayMyName plays the audio
over both headphones and phone speaker at the same time. Love the app but
cannot use it with this flaw.
I have a Droid X stock 2.1

Discreet mode is experimental at the moment. I hope to improve it with the next
update.

I think that's fixed in an internal test-version. :)

Wait for the next update.

On a nexus one with froyo your alphabetagamma only gets me the android market
with a search for pname:com.google.tts.

Your regular version for "say my name dessert" had speech output, so tts
shouldn't be a problem on my phone. I have, however, the "phone talks without
headphones while in private mode" problem ;-)

@n.tautenhahn:

Do you see the Market with this version too?
http://code.google.com/p/roadtoadc/downloads/detail?name=SayMyName_2.2.6.9.9.1_A
LPHABETAGAMMA.apk

Thanks
Tom

Hi,
with your 2.2.6.9.9.1 (you love minor versions, don't you ;-)), it starts fine.
In addition, private mode works (says caller's name only with headphone).
However, SayMail says nothing now (neither in private nor in normal mode); I
didn't test SaySMS...

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
I don't want to raise the version number to 2.7 until everything works fine. ;)

I'm not sure why private mode works now, but keep reporting...

Try to set your Gmail-address again in settings. (by the way, SayMyName never
reads your own mails!)

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
*g* I can understand that ;-) Was wondering how far we have to go into the
greek alphabet until 2.7 is ready ;-)

I already had my Gmail-address set - did it again, no luck. The "test" Button
in SayMail shows me the SayMyName-Icon in the upper left corner for a blink,
then it's gone without any sound.

To infinity and beyond. :P

You just found a bug, thanks! ;)
Until SayMail-test is fixed you could try to uninstall SayMyName completely and
install it again. Maybe you have strange settings.

Hmm strange - deleted the user data, uninstalled it, re-installed it and set my
gmail address - then saymail worked.
(BTW: You know that your test version is half-translated on a german phone?)

Great! :D

Yes, another user contributed German-translation.

Übrigens spreche ich auch Deutsch. :P Und ich weiß, dass die derzeitige
Übersetzung mies ist. ;)

Hello,

If you still experience problems with discreet mode:

Please try this version:
http://code.google.com/p/roadtoadc/downloads/detail?name=SayMyName_2.2.6.9.9.9.1
_ALPHABETAGAMMA.apk

And tell me if discreet mode works now.

Thanks
Tom

Hi Tom,

this one gives me an instant crash of say my name on any test; (I deleted all
application config data and uninstalled the previous version).

Could this be related to some tts module which I cannot install from the
market? (I had another app which wanted to talk but the market could not find
it). This is on a german nexus one with froyo.

Original comment by n.tautenhahn on 16 Sep 2010 at 12:37

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
SayMyName should help you install TTS if you start SayMyName. :)

Original comment by tomtasche on 16 Sep 2010 at 12:48

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
well, with froyo, I think I have some TTS already - google navigation works and
previous versions of say my name talked to me, as well... But I remember one
version which took me to the market and searched for something like foo.tts -
which couldn't be found. Just wondering if this might be the cause for the
crash as soon as I hit any "Test"-Button

Mh... Please follow these steps:

By the way, we can speak German if you do so too. :P

*g* I wanted to keep it in English to make it easier for other people who
happen to have the same issues ;-)

Damn, this is so strange. Uninstalled your test version, installed Log
Collector, re-installed your test-version, rebooted.

Now, say my name doesn't crash anymore, but the test button in "Say GMail" is
the same - I see the icon in the upper left corner for a short time, no sound.
SayCaller, however, works. This is getting stranger and stranger every day ;-)

Damn... I would love to fix your previous crash. Tell me if it occurs again.

You have to insert a contact's mail address in the SayMail-test-popup.

Original comment by tomtasche on 16 Sep 2010 at 2:07

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
oooh stupid me - the Test-Button showed me your email-Address - and I clicked
"ok". But as you are not in my contacts, nothing happened ;-)

Then I didn't test - i just emailed myself (I am a contact on my phone ;-)) and
it worked. Then I enabled private mode and sent another mail - and say my name
crashed. I will send you the log via email...
