@brannondorsey @notandrewkaye @manzalena OK.
So, it's working pretty easily. There are some limitations, but the concept is sound I think.
This is pulling from http://talk.olab.io/category/projects
We'd just need to do a little work to filter based on trust (which is possible) and also shape the images to give them a more consistent look / feel.
Again, the goal here is to push people back to the forum to interact and have conversations, ask questions, etc etc.
Above all, it will reduce our need to update lots of stuff ... because trusted users can post a project and it will show up on the site.
I think the prose route was/is great for some aspects of this -- but I think it needs to be even easier, hence my effort here. :)
Gotta head to bed now, but I might have time to finish this and style it.
This is now implemented. If you want to add projects, you just have to create a post in that category. People must have trust level 3 or higher to post automatically.
This is great. We should make the splash images themselves links as well :)
Do it!
Using the same (or similar, or better) technique as we are for the events page, pull and display all project posts of users with a trust level of X or greater.
The discourse post api will list the first image uploaded in a given post, which could be pulled in and hotlinked to our site.
Then, we can basically say, if someone posts a project wanting to be a part of it, we say, "cool" you've been promoted to "project posting level" -- or if a project has more than 100 likes or something ... then project appears and becomes featured.
Anyway, i think there is a lot of potential to bring everything back around to this amazing discourse forum.
I'm just excited to see what happens when they move to 1.0 and destroy their undocumented api :)
