I'm so sorry that happened to you. Harassment is never appropriate, and I appreciate you sharing your story. I realize now that awesome-advisors
brings with it a value judgement that can vary based on interactions. It was not my intention to make a judgement call on the advisors themselves, since online presence != in-person interactions. Instead, I'd like to curate lab policies and expectations from a variety of labs. What do you think of restructuring to purely a content list such as awesome-expectations
?
Your lab policies are very well written, and I think would make an excellent addition.
I think this should remain open. The language has been edited not to explicitly endorse PIs, but you are still endorsing the way these individuals engage in science and manage trainees. In some cases, they engage in harassment of trainees.
One of these 'awesome advisers' is a known sexist harasser (edit July 17 - Titus Brown. No point in playing coy.) who uses their code of conduct to silence women.
"Awesome" should be a high bar. Not a low one.
