I believe this is all we need for releasing 0.8. I don't intend to add myself to the authors list in Cargo.toml for now because I can't guarantee to be around to deal with issues reported unless they're in bits I added.
This is the git-side of #28 and if @oli-obk wants they can push a tag (I note only v0.5.0 has a tag currently).
