If I recall correctly, Olive doesn't check the size of the disk cache folder and instead keeps track of cached files in a different manner, which can kinda break for a subset of those files each time Olive crashes, causing it to lose track of them. Have you had frequent crashes and/or improper shutdowns by any chance?

Recently more than I did before this version (notably, recently it's been showing the crash report dialog sometimes when I close Olive normally). If the infrequent crashes I've been experiencing caused 232gb of losing track of files, that's a problem in and of itself :PP
Are you able to delete the cache folder manually?

Yes, I did that after reporting this issue.
Have you noticed if the cache folder has been getting to big again?

I'm not at my laptop for a couple days and I haven't done much editing since opening this issue, so can't confirm right now. I'll get back to you in a few days :)

Summary My disk cache is set to 20gb in Olive, but the mediacache folder is currently taking up a whopping 232gb (I didn't even realise it was Olive destroying my disk space until today!!). Clicking the "clear disk cache" button brings up the confirmation prompt and says "disk cache cleared", but actually does nothing. The cache files date back to when I started using Olive, so it's likely it's been an enduring problem.
