Due to a recent decision by Unity to introduce a new pricing model, I have decided I can no longer in good faith support a company which is actively trying to damage its users in more ways than one.
This is not a rash decision. Over the years, the CEO of Unity has shown a constant disregard for even a single shred of human decency, such as the time they partnered with a known malware distributor IronSource, or the time he called mobile devs "fucking idiots" for not prioritising monetisation, and now this - a move that has a massive chance of bankrupting small developers.
I cannot tolerate this negligent corporate greed any longer, and as such X10D.Unity is going to be phased out. No new extension methods will be introduced, and will not be updated to 4.0.0. The package will be delisted in the near future, regardless of whether Unity rolls back this decision or not. The upm branch will no longer receive updates effective immediately.
I apologise to the developers out there who rely on X10D.Unity for your codebase, this is not a move at your expense. I just cannot see this go on. I cannot support Unity in any way whatsoever from this point onwards, trust has been broken, it is irreparable.
Clarification
I can appreciate some developers are utilising the upm branch in their projects, this branch is not going away. I do not want to prohibit people from being able to use X10D, so the branch will stay online for the forseeable future. But actions have been put in place that now prevent it from being updated any further. The version on the upm branch is now the final version, it will not receive new features or version bumps or security patches. The branch is effectively stale now.
