magnetometer issues (or my procedure mistake) #489

Arducoper NG or ACM?
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. configuration - HW option - Magnetometer activated - auto dec activatev
2. live calibration ... 3 axis dance like video
3. popup about parameter
4. write all Arducopter parameter (thru 3d radio)

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

aspect to have yaw on magnetic course position referred to "front" apm

get: even if pitch and rool are OK yaw is nometimes 180° sometime 90° wrong

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

apm 2.5 + gps + 3dradio + sonar

windows 7

Please provide any additional information below.

may be i do somethink wrong but no idea wath

addition no significant interference only apm board, sensor and battery

I'm getting this too, if I turn my Hexa to North (0 degrees) it appears to 
accumulate an error back to 200ish degrees, turning the Hexa again to South 
(180 deg) doesn't appear to have the same issue, but does appear to accumulate 
an error at a slower rate.

I don't believe that there is any interference issues, however I will put a 
'scope on the power rails to double check shortly.  I do have a 1000u LESR cap 
& choke between the BEC & the APM, and another choke on the GND of the xBee...

this has only become an issue I believe since 2.7.3

Please resubmit this error in the new issues list (see below) if it's still a 
problem in 2.9. Note that another user found out that a similary problem were 
caused by a faulty magnetometer.
