Locations #636

Open Eusorph opened 5 years ago

I just realized there is no Locations Group. Since the World Group doesn't appear in the Storyline, even if I can insert locations here, it doesn't count. Locations must appear in the Storyline. So, either add a Locations Group, or let items from the World Group appear in the Storyline.

@Eusorph is this the same request as issue #201?

Eusorph commented 5 years ago

@gedakc Nope. That's the World Group function. I mean a Locations group (Same as Characters and Story Arcs), where one can list the various locations in the story, and that appears in the Storyline. Characters and Locations are two standard groups that are normally tracked in a story. Basically, all you need to do is just clone Characters or Arcs and call it Locations -- and add a different letter and color for the pop up menu in the Reference tab.

201 and this one could be merged if the "World" would support arbitrary arbitrary trees of "stuff". In SciFi, for example, you will want to add several planets and then places on those planets. Some people will use planet/city/place/office. Many stories also need to describe generic items (like several kinds of weapons).

The world building at the bottom should apply on the current "folder" so we can quickly flesh out details about something.

It's called "Places" in another popular writing software package :) Yes, I think this is a great idea too. IMO, the "World" section is more for world building/themes/McGuffin Devices/etc. A "Places" (or "Locations") section is more specific to places like "Hogwarts," "The Regal Beagle," etc.
