Survey | LG Account Setup Information #90

Open Brahmah opened 3 years ago

Brahmah commented 3 years ago

It has recently come to our attention that users of this integration utilize either LG accounts or social network logins when prompted for authentication.

Some users have found success in utilizing different authentication methods, however, the results aren't consistent. In an attempt to remedy this to document and provide a better experience to users, We'd appreciate if you filled out the bellow template with details regarding how you set up the integration. This will allow us to find the correlation [If any] between what authentication method is used and its success or lack thereof.

Country Code: US
Language Code: en
Account Type: LG Account or Social, If social, Please specify the social network
Any Further Comments:

The template contains examples, please adjust values to match your setup!

Side note: You could use git.io to shorten this issue link to https://git.io/JU166 and add a reference to that in the onboarding process.

Country Code: AU Language Code: en Account Type: LG Account Any Further Comments: When recently reconfiguring I had to setup again. It failed as LG wanted me to accept new terms and conditions first, which the redirect doesn't take into account. After accepting terms in the mobile app the redirect method worked again.

Country Code: US Language Code: en Account Type: LG Account Any Further Comments: I successfully setup up this integration on Homeassistant, however it is not working with my LG AC unit.

Question: do I need to install the Wideq libraries before the SmartThinQ sensors will work, or does installing the SmartThinQ sensors integration auto-load the Wideq libraries/dependencies?

Country Code: US Language Code: en Account Type: LG Any Further Comments: Stopped updating, probably due to the new Terms & Conditions. I was unable to reconnect until I accepted those Terms & Conditions in the ThinQ phone app. When prompted to change my password, I chose skip. Apparently they think I should change my Washing Machine password every 3 months. shrug

Country Code: US Language Code: en Account Type: LG Account Any Further Comments: When signing into https://us.m.lgaccount.com/spx/login/signIn?country=US&language=en-US&svc_list=SVC202&client_id=LGAO221A02&division=ha&redirect_uri=https%3A%2F%2Fkr.m.lgaccount.com%2Flogin%2FiabClose&state=a3dd524a4ece11eb9b8ff44d3066368a&show_thirdparty_login=GGL%2CAMZ%2CFBK , I would get this error: "ID or password is not correct".

Strangely, when I tried signing in via https://www.lg.com/us/mylg, I would sign in, and immediately get sent to a second page where it asked me: " LG Account Authentication -- You have an LG account with xxxxx@xxxxxxx.xxx. Please sign in with your LG account password." I would try to sign in there and it kept redirecting back to that same page with the same screen to sign back in ... to which I never really could. Oddly, even though it appeared that I was not signed in, I could hit my account icon at the top and see my products.

I figured I would try signing out of my LG ThinQ iOS application, and sign back in there. When I tried that, it told me my password was over 3 months old, and that I needed to reset it. Odd that logging into the website did not reveal that same information.

All that said, once I reset my password, I was eventually able to login into the first URL (the one above) to get the second URL to plugin to the Redirection URL for the Home Assistant integration. All is now working as expected.

Country Code: LV Language Code: en Account Type: LG Account Any Further Comments:

* Had 2 accounts, one LG Account, another Google account, both on same email. Apparently they are different accounts.

* Washing machine was on Google account. Could not get redirect link for Google account, as Google said `invalid redirect url`.

* Using LG Account said `invalid credentials`.

1. Deleted Google account from within Thinq application. This deleted account from LG servers.

2. Logged into LG account from Thinq application, was forced to agree to terms and conditions. After agreed, redirect url was accepted, but no washing machine was found on account.

3. Added washing machine to LG Account. After this, redirect url was accepted and washing machine appeared!

Same problem here, had to delete Google account from LG app the re-register as LG account and re-register my washing machine, worked perfectly afterwards.

Country Code: HU Language Code: hu Account Type: LG Account Any Further Comments: Great job with this integration @ollo69

Country Code: US Language Code: en Account Type: LG Account Any Further Comments: trying to set up the integration in Home Assistant and getting an error when trying to log in at the SmartThinQ login URL provided by the integration: "We're sorry! The server encountered an internal error and was unable to complete your request. If the problem persists, please contact us at contact.lgaccount@lge.com" The first time that I landed on that page and tried to log in, it told me my password was more than 3 months old and it was suggested I change my password. So I did. I am able to log in to my account and to the LG ThinQ mobile app with the new password without problems. Still no luck to set up the integration, I get the error message above. Edit (2 hours later): I tried it on my phone later on and it worked! I don't know if it was the fact that I did it on the phone that made it work or just a coincidence and the server issue was fixed.

I understood the instructions.

After returning the line, it throws the message. (Login details are good). I tried to register with another email on the US server and enter the US and EN. The result is the same as here in CZ.

When the message is returned, it is displayed again:

"Select your SmartThinQ account localization information."

After re-entering CZ and CS:

" Error retrieving login URL from ThinQ. "

And that's the end of it, it goes again after about 15 minutes. With exactly the same result.

magnetic157 commented 3 years ago

Went to the URL provided, entered my credentials and was told my user was associated to my apple login and to log in that way, however there wasn't an option for apple - only google, Facebook and Amazon.

I tried re-registering with the "Create Account" option using my existing email address. After confirming my email I re-entered my user/pass and it took my credentials and provided me a re-direct URL like expected. When I copy that URL back into the HA configuration it says "Invalid SmartThinQ credentials."
