gnt-instance console / kvm-console-wrapper / socat hangs when connecting a kernel panicked instance

socat hangs without explanation while connecting to the serial console of a 
kernel panicked instance.

I suppose a better practice would be to setup netconsole logging in the first 
place; that would have informed me of the root cause.

/usr/lib/ganeti/tools/kvm-console-wrapper

I'm filing this bug mostly so that at some point in the future when someone 
else searches the bug reports thinking that it's an issue with getting the 
console they are instead informed of another possible reason for the unexpected 
behavior.

Please go ahead and close the issue, or at most add a reminder note to the 
above script; I am only offered user defect report or developer defect report 
templates.

Would it make sense maybe to print a warning before launching "socat" about the 
escape key and that a console can be unresponsive?

Move all issues assigned to 2.10 to 2.11, because their priority would not 
justify an inclusion in 2.10.
