"Hold your Place Mode" #116

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Listen to a sermon referencing and returning to 3+ Bible passages
2. Open AndBible and try to follow along!

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
You can simply start over your reference look-ups each time a passage is
mentioned, or "hard bookmark" these passages. Bookmarking them can be
confusing however if you already have a large collection of existing bookmarks.
It's not so bad if there are 2 passages--in this case "back" often works well
enough, but re-looking up the passage is still necessary.

I would like to propose something that is not quite "hard-bookmarking" but
rather a "soft-bookmarking" method.

In typical sermons lots of Bible verses are often cross-referenced or perhaps a
small collection are mentioned and returned to. Often I have found digital
Bibles great and equivalent to paper Bible reading when listening or studying,
except in this circumstance above.

If you could enter into a "hold your place mode" this may be way to equate
putting your fingers in various parts of a paper Bible so that you can quickly
flip back and forward between them.

For touch screens I like the ability to "flip" to the next chapter. During
time then this "hold your place mode" is active, perhaps "flipping" right and
left would change functions to allow flipping to the next "held" place and so
forth.

Tablets may better enter into this mode by adding comparative columns, which I
know may be considered in upcoming releases.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
AndBible 1.6
Android 2.3.6

Please provide any additional information below.

Thank you for considering this, happy to discuss it further.

Are you aware that long-press Back displays the list of recent passages and
allows you to navigate to any previous passage directly.

No this is a new feature discover for me! Thanks.

This solves most of what I was looking for. Going forward perhaps a "Android
material theme" solution would be to add a slide-out menu on a left-screen
swipe.
