Coming out of the user feedback, the permissions system "per image" or "per item" is something badly needed by users. The idea is to re-scope Share in Web functionality in such a way that it would allow to share more than just images. The suggestion is to enable sharing via Shares of:

  1. annotations (File Annotations and later other annotations)
  2. Projects and Datasets (with the images contained in them)

It'd be good to understand the actual workflows and goals here because there will probably be some overlap or interaction with deep copy (#20).

After a discussion with @mtbc we concluded that the synchronization with the Deep Copy effort is necessary. Although it might give the same solutions, the permissions restrictions on the creation of a new group and adding new members to the group give still a good case for having a strong Share workflow. Possibly creation of an epic which solves: "How do I structure the OMERO groups in my institution", "How do I share data with someone outwith the group and outwith my OMERO server" . is being asked for.
