Buster is still pretty new release, and since we typically avoid being guinea pig for major releases before supporting them in production, it may take one or two minor releases before it will be supported in BOA.
Update November 2021 - debian 10 Buster is already depricated. Why not make the jump directly to debian 11 - so the work only has to be done once. Soon it won't be possible to rent a vps or dedicated with auto install and reinstall of debian 9 and soon 10!
While Debian itself is stable it will be a problem with deprecated packages probably as 9 will fall out of the spotlight.
Debian 11 is the fresh current version, what are the reasons to hold from it?
This is becoming essential, since vps providors are removing support for ubuntu versions up to 20 and no longer allowing reinstall with 16, 18 or 20 - forcing upgrade to 21, and they no longer allow install or reinstall with debian jessie 8 and soon support for stretch 9 will be discontinued, so things are going to get much more expensive as "commodity" server and vps companies (like ovh cloud) will no longer allow install or reinstall of any of the boa supported os's.
We are working on adding working support for Buster and Bullseye in the next two weeks.
Is there any estimated time frame when Buster and Bullseye will be supported?
Is there any update on this? According to Debian, version 9 (stretch) is supported until 30 june 2022. At the moment this is still the recommended version for BOA.
We are trying to install on a new server and having issues since Debian 9 is no longer supported. Hoping we can get some update information on the progress of this issue as well.
Debian 10 Buster is since July the stable Debian version. Nevertheless, it is not yet supported by the boa installer. Is there a plan for the Debian 10 support? It would be great if new installations have the chance to benefit from the long term support of the latest stable. Would you advice somebody who is planning a new BOA server soon, to wait for the Debian 10 support?
