Configurable item add/edit map #71

Open jimsafley opened 4 years ago

See this post. It would be nice to have the configurations that are available on the Mapping block somehow available to the item add/edit map. The best approach may be a user setting where individual users can customize the way their item add/edit maps are configured. This would include default bounds, basemap provider, perhaps WMS overlays (most difficult), and maybe min/max zoom (not implemented in Mapping block at the time of this writing).

@jimsafley could this fit within this issue as well? Both are something I would be interested in working on in my spare time starting within the next few months if they are features where you would accept a pull request.

I think the answer here is that we're always happy to look at pull requests. This issue especially I think would be a good fit for a pretty limited change that just adds the kinds of user settings Jim talked about in his description here.

The other issue you linked to, people would obviously be interested in that one too: I think it doesn't necessarily go along with this one though. They seem like independent features to me. Also, I'd say that issue about areas or inexact locations is going to be a little more difficult to implement, at least depending on how you're thinking of doing it.

Thanks John--I think I got mixed up put this comment on the wrong issue. I was thinking #77 might have some overlap with different kinds of makers that represent different kinds of spaces/areas. Any rate, sounds like I might as well just open it up as another issue.

Hello OmeKa Team, +1 for WMS overlays on the Mapping Tab when adding / editing an item. If this was configurable at the resource template level, it would allow for setting WMS overlays that can act as an aid when setting the point on the map. It would similarly be great to have a similar configuration at the Collecting form level.
