There's a "regular vs. square" thumbnail setting, generally accessible from omitting or passing null to the arguments where thumbnail size generally goes.
The browse page here hardcodes thumbnail: it should be no problem to use null there instead and thereby let users opt for squares or regular AR depending on their content.
