Anything hit while in air behaves ... weird, silly, crazy, haphazard, almost random. Some of the things I've noticed happening that should not:
Hitting enemy on ground with normal attack, he launches 10 pixels up in air, goes back to standing animation, in air, and continues to get hit.
Hitting enemy into air, and either falling normally, recovering in midair on knockdown hits, or instead of getting launched JUMPS straight upward as per a high jump +extra height, and recovers control right away.
Any kind of hitting the enemy while he is in the air gives very varied results. A Jaguar 4K should kick the opponent away so fast that you can't follow up on it, but often times it just makes the opponent move a few pixels away and keep falling. I've even been hit by heavy attacks like Jaguar 4K when jumping into them and still land closer to them than where I was hit by the kick, and in control.
Air recovery in general, is completely random, and the characters will recover left and right at any time during their airborne time.

Probably forgotten the rest.
