I'm on Vista.
Is there anyway to get a post 0.3b and pre SQL Server version that actually
works?
Would it be possible to deprecate the old code to another project, for those of
us
that still want to use this product but can't in either of these two states.

What version were you running before this whole trouble started? 0.3b was the
last
solid release, we did do a number of "daily builds" which contained lots of
changes
and I'm sure I/we can locate one of those for you if thats what you want. Or I
can
do my best to help you get either back to 0.3b or up to 0.4b with your 2k5
server.
I'm quite sure it works because others have had success building the db by hand
on a
2k5 sql server.
can you verify that the database has the oml user account with the correct
password
(as listed in the settings.xml file?)

I didn't have a version of OML on my fresh Windows 7 install but it still say's
that
it wants to use an exsisting data base???. After several uninstalls, reboots
and
reinstalls I cannot get it to change its mind!

wmlmes,
Have you posted this in the forums, best place to discuss I think.
To confirm, you downloaded the server installation?

Yes it is the server edition, have also tried to install on whs with the same
error
:SQL Installer Reported Error Code -2068643839. Have searched for that with no
luck!

I too was getting some errors trying to setup OML on Windows 7. It was a clean
box,
and I had just finished installing Windows 7 (pretty fast). Then soon as the
box
was up I installed OML, but SQL Server bombed.
There were two things I did to fix it...
#1 - Turn off Windows 7 auto updates: It seems that during one attempt windows
7
was installing updates, and my PC was flagged as "needing to reboot" during the
OML
install. So be sure to turn this off whenever you are installing something
importaint, OR ELSE you could break during the install in a state of limbo.
#2 - Downloaded the latest SQL Server 2008 SP1 standalone install from
Microsofts
website. And after the OML install completes it launches another window to
guide
you through the DB install. But before I did that part I replaced the
file "SQLEXPR_x64_ENU.exe" in the "C:\Program
Files\OpenMediaLibrary\SQLInstaller"
directory with the SP1 version I downloaded.
Also...
Be sure to go into Media Center and just make sure it is workable (no prompts)
before installing OML. I found that if i tried to install OML before i launch
Media
Center sometimes it wouldn't install the menus from OML.
