You appear to be talking about the "File Transfer" mode of Frotz. Because of
Apple's restrictions on
"downloading interpreted content", the you don't enter a URL in Frotz to
download, rather, you start the File
Transfer/web server on Frotz and then connect to it from a web browser or FTP
client on a computer on the
local wi-fi network.
If Frotz cannot determine its own IP address in order to start the server, then
it will print a message saying
you need to connect to a wi-fi network and not show the "Start File Transfer
Server" button.
If this continues to happen to you, please quit Frotz and go to Settings->Wi-Fi
and check what your IP
address is... maybe it isn't being able to DHCP for one and you're getting the
self-assigned 169.254 one or
something.

You appear to be correct. The "Start File Transfer Server" button was not
appearing,
but I don't know why. I tried it just now, and it worked fine. I was able to
upload a
new story without issue.
Not sure what caused the original issue, since my WiFi settings have not
changed, but
it's all fine now.
Thanks!
Sean.

Maybe it took a little while to negotiate an IP address and it hadn't actually
fully connected when you tried it.
Problem reaching the DNS server might also cause the issue.
I'll leave the issue open a little while to see if anyone else runs into it.

I'm having the same problem in Frotz v1.4 on an iPhone 3G. I am connected to my
home
wi-fi with a valid IP address (192.168.2.102). Tried deleting and re-installing
Frotz
as I had originally installed it on a different wi-fi connection, and got the
exact
same issue.

I'm having exactly the same problems: with Frotz v1.4 the file transfer
mechanism just
never activates. It just states that I need to be on WiFi (which I am)

Same problem: Frotz 1.4. 8GB iPod Touch OS 3.1.3
WiFi is active for other applications.
BTW Thanks for all your effort - very excited to find Frotz available, but
would love
to get access to my IF library.
