Have you seen this: https://itunes.apple.com/ch/app/appreport/id774646902?mt=8 ??!

ddaddy commented 10 years ago

Wow. I thought Apple wouldn't allow this on the App Store. Has anyone paid for it to try? The description says it works with Promo Codes which I believe was broken for a long time.

If Apple are now allowing this, I think Ole should submit it, I would definitely buy it even though I have it working anyway.

nyisztor commented 10 years ago

Same here. I've bought all apps made by Ole, this would be no exception (I'm using it on a daily basis anyway). I'm wondering what was this Christophe Petrel thinking? He blatantly copied the app, did not even change the icon or something. Downright pathetic!

ddaddy commented 10 years ago

That's why I wonder if he even bothered to fix the broken stuff like Promo Codes.

omz commented 10 years ago

It's not the first time this happens, I guess it won't be long until Apple removes it. From the screenshots, it looks like an outdated version that was built for iOS 7. I won't submit it again myself, tried two times already, and I guess this Christophe guy just got lucky.

ddaddy commented 10 years ago

Doesn't it now use an official feed for the data? I don't see why Apple wouldn't approve it now.

No harm in trying.

omz commented 10 years ago

The API is semi-official at best (reverse-engineered from Apple's command-line tool and not documented), and AppSales still scrapes iTunes Connect for auto-filling the vendor ID (which is explicitly forbidden in the review guidelines). As I said, I've tried it before, and I don't really have an interest in pursuing this anymore.

ddaddy commented 10 years ago

Fair enough. I just don't see how someone else should be making the money for your app.

You should at least ask Apple to take it down. It is still up.

omz commented 10 years ago

I've contacted the "developer", and he has removed it now.

DanielFontes commented 10 years ago

It's still up in the US-Store...

Still up.
