At the moment, settings are all stored in a different file for each consuming project (e.g. 2 CLIs have 2 separate settings files).
However, if we work towards converging user preferences including authentication tokens, then it might be worth having an option to work within a shared settings file. That way, a user isn't forced to re-authenticate.
For minimal disruption, we probably need to look into #3 , too.
