Several experiences motivate me to learn about data, thinking alongside the students of this course. For example, I have seen how large companies I have worked up such as Google and demand may not be incentivized to train and share secrets. I am worried that large scale societal catastrophes may occur from algorithms recommending content to humans in an environment that lacks transparency, but that is rife with misaligned incentives. I hope that by teaching this course, as many people as possible, can benefit from visualizing, analyzing, large scale, global data on macro economics, micro economics, behavioral economics, Nuro, economics, health economics, the life sciences and pharmaceuticals development, health, technology and health systems, infrastructure, financial technology, and other domain areas across the hierarchy of needs that the nonprofit I've built hopes to serve with open source, artificial intelligence and infrastructure.
