Thanks for the hint, I know that github autoformats markdown if a file ends with .md.
That doesn't mean I like the feature much. I try to keep text files as clean as possible, so they don't become harder to read on a terminal. If you replace the backticks by 4 spaces though, they should still be recognized as code.
