I'm shopping for a new IDE, currently on the VSCode family.

The fact is I shelved onivim since I can't just run it. It isn't available from my package manager, nor is there anything ready to use available, without messing with Patreon. (TBH From the website, I already struggled looking for an install/download instructions, 'Access Portal' isn't obvious.)

I can't have a try for 10m, a day or two, or a week, trying to work on whatever I'm currently working on. As I am now, I don't have a reliable income stream to just buy stuff and throw them away.

After getting a licence: jfyi it'd be nice if you provided an integration script (Reaper is a fair example).

This is not targeted against the maintainers, it's jfyi, a report on what happened; perhaps a low-priority feature request — close it if ya want, do what ya want, it's your thing, be you.

flush brain cache: In the moment I had, I didn't get to run it. Opening the binary didn't work; simple install-integrate would be nice (xdg-desktop, xdg-resource, ~/.opt, bin in path) I don't remember if it is a hack, but https://github.com/jtagcat/dotfiles/blob/main/scripts/firefox/install_nightly/install_esr.sh is something

Hey, I was running into the same problem. The website does not explain how to acquire a licence. It seems to cater only to existing licence owners / patreon supporters. I really am willing to spend some 💸 on this (even without a demo) but so far I wasn't able to. The patreon page looks deserted 👻 A bit more new customer perspective would certainly help.

EDIT: I just noticed that it isn't possible at the moment to acquire a licence: https://github.com/onivim/oni2/issues/3811 How about an infobox on the website to tell the visitors (=> potential customers) about the current state of affairs?! :)

FIY i discovered your project while watching https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5fG_lyNuEAw&t=1976s
