I'm not using a LCD screen, and instead just using a monitor with keyboard and mouse. I followed the instructions to run the crontab on boot, but I still have to start the desktop and attempt to run the program from the terminal (not sure if this is because I'm not using an LCD, and it's not a big deal under my circumstances). But even after I try to run the program, the LEDs just kind of go crazy or just stay static. Trying to control them from the browser does nothing. I realized that I did not buy neopixel LEDs, instead something like BCF LEDs which say they're individually addressable and programmable and whatnot, but I figure since I imported a neopixel library it can't work with the ones that I bought? Do I have to repurchase neopixels specifically?
