It's kind of ugly, but it works.

I'm wondering where this really belongs... Maybe we add a Makefile to the valve.py repo and just download valve_grammar.ne from here?

Using a Makefile is fine. I pushed some changes.

Yes, please move this to the valve.py repo and fetch valve_grammar.ne from this repo.
