Thanks for sharing this @cnst! I heard of similar space in Ontario, Canada. It would be great to get this in Austin and I think with gathered support we can def make the case!
Just working in Faulk is really nice and a supportive environment with the Fellows.
What problem are you trying to solve?
Free coworking spaces.
Who will benefit (directly and indirectly) from your project?
Everyone.
What other resources/tools are currently serving the same need? How does your project set itself apart?
There are free coworking spaces available in some other cities:
Denver has The Commons on Champa, which, to quote https://www.thecommons.co/events/, offers "free coworking space that is open to the public Monday through Friday 9 am – 5 pm. Offering fast free Xfinity wifi and coffee.", located downtown next to the Opera House
Scottsdale has Eureka Loft Scottsdale, http://www.scottsdalelibrary.org/eurekaloft, which is part of Scottsdale Civic Centre Plaza on Drinkwater Blvd. Has unlimited free garage parking (shared with library and city courts), physically occupies an entirely separated second floor of the library, shared with an innovation office and with its own staff and WiFi. Provided facilities include coworking tables with outlets and chairs.
Santa Clara, CA has https://HackerDojo.com/, which is a non-profit coworking space — offers free coworking during the daytime hours when other members are present, funded by sponsors and paying members. Full-time standard rates are $125/mo for 24/7 RFID access, which at is 2× to 4× cheaper than coworking spaces in Austin.
