New Cap Metro dashboard #144

Open dkesh opened 5 years ago

dkesh commented 5 years ago

What problem are you trying to solve?

Make it easier to find and tell stories about trends in Cap Metro ridership.

Who will benefit (directly and indirectly) from your project?

Directly

Journalists and activists who needs Cap Metro ridership data to illustrate a story they want to tell.

Indirectly

Current and potential Cap Metro riders who want decisionmakers to have accurate information about Cap Metro.

What other resources/tools are currently serving the same need? How does your project set itself apart?

The Cap Metro Dashboard shows some of the same information, and supplies the underlying data used for this dashboard. This project provides a few differences from the Cap Metro dashboard:

  1. The ability to normalize based on number of weekdays, Saturdays, and Sundays in the month.
  2. Ability to visualize data going back multiple years in single chart.
  3. Ability to bookmark an analysis (i.e. parameters like which routes to show, whether to normalize).
  4. Ability to download chart.
  5. Stripped-down interface showing only most meaningful chart.

Where can we find any research/data available/articles?

Running version.

What help do you need now?

Product feedback:

What are the next steps (validation, research, coding, design)?

Gathering feedback. Iterating on current version.

How can we contact you outside of Github(list social media or places you're present)?

I joined oa slack. Also present on twitter (@dankeshet or @austinonyourfeet)
