thanks. I looked at the other projects on the list and I couldn't see anything besides the hardware project(?) which didn't make a lot of sense to me. That's because I don't know anything about the technical aspects of addressing these issues. I am just putting the question out there but as I have no coding/software experience I doubt I can be of much value to this other than perhaps as a beta tester. :-)
cool, can you come to one of our meetups to find some collaborators?
Hi, I am a new graduate who majored in UX Design. I just did a class project in UX Researching that used the new MetroRail app as a case study. I am happy to bring this into your project and keep the researching going. I got a couple of user testers so far, people who I know used the MetroRail app. This usability test project is set up to get screened user testers, send them on a journey using the app, and collect feedback with asking the right questions.
That's great to hear @Falpals. I'm a design researcher myself, so I'd love to hear more about your plans. Can you join us at one of our upcoming meetups? https://www.meetup.com/Open-Austin/
Yes, @Werdnanoslen, I did go, and I presented my UX2 project ( thanks to Professor Dr John Neumann) which was research and usability testing for the MetroRail App. What my new teammates Paul (visual designer) and I agreed upon was to do the same for the other CapMetro App. There were two others, Shane and Roger, both high-tech programmers, that joined us after you left. We agreed to stay in touch on the Open Austin Slack. So, I have to find that Slack!!! Also, @ozarknature the previous team who was working on CapMetro App, could you please come back? This project is taking on research now. I'd like to know what goals you were working toward and help bring that to fruition. We believe there are flaws in the new MetroRail and CapMetro App and we need to know which flaw you have identified. So, please come back next week Tuesday. I now know the whole UX process so I can add that bit of guidance and continuity, if you want me to be "PROJECT design leadership." I will push the project as far as we can get it. However, I am NOT a manager of people.
Good to meet you, Falpals
Hello, I am a UX designer who has graduated this May. I'm interested in joining the design team, but are you guys looking for the UX designer at this time?
Dear 2echoi, I am happy to have a new UX designer on this project. When would be the next meeting you plan on attending? I have missed the last few meetings but I plan to continue on this CapMetro app.
And, can you find the Slack Team for this group and look for the channel called CapMetro App?
Hello Falpals,
Thank you for the reply! I'm planning to go to the next meeting on Oc 7. The location hasn't announced yet, but I hope I mee you guys there!
I tried to find your Slack team, but I couldn't find it. Could you send me the link via email?
Hey @2echoi, glad to hear you'll join us! Go ahead and RSVP for the meetup, and you'll get a notification when we schedule it. You can join our Slack team at slack.open-austin.org, and then join the #p-freshforless channel. https://open-austin.slack.com/messages/C398349F1

@ozarknature and @Falpals, could you tell us how this project turned out? Did you pursue an idea that would have required CapMetro's cooperation in providing your work to CapMetro's patrons? If so, did you have a conversation with CapMetro about that, and how did it go?
What problem are we trying to solve?
Capital Metro's app has recently been improved but it has a long ways to go before stop times are accurate and reliable, and the app (and website as well) had a more user-friendly UI.
Who will benefit (directly and indirectly) from this project?
All current transit users, and many current non-users who would ride transit if the app's stop times were more accurate and the app & website were easier to use for trip planning.
Links to any research/data available/articles
I'm not aware of any specific sources but Cap Metro has a lot of data.
What are the next steps (validation, research, coding, design)?
I'm not a coder/hacker so I don't know how to do this. I'm just a transit user wishing someone would help Cap Metro improve! :-)
What help is needed at this time?
Starting from scratch, more or less. I have no techxpertise.
