You need to run the following to get the tests to pass:

pip install -r requirements.txt
python scripts/compile.py

I'll review the extension then merge this if I have no comments.

I cherry-picked commits to avoid more difficult conflict resolution.

Sorry for the long delay. I've since added dozens of extensions, so the process will be much quicker now :) See also updated instructions for the scripts in the readme.
