Updated docs to clarify install process and fix typos #121

During my install process it took me a while to realise that the port had to be included in the NODE_API_URL option. I've updated the docs to hopefully clarify them a bit, and fixed a couple of other spelling errors I found about the place.

I think this issue is likely the culprit behind some of the problems experienced in #108
