Plans to convert to KiCAD or Altium? #4

With Autodesk end-of-lifing EAGLE cad, is there a plan to convert designs to a new software? We'd like to keep projects in sync with y'alls designs and are currently trying to decide whether to switch to KiCAD or Altium. KiCAD is obviously open and purportedly getting better all the time; Altium seems to have emerged as an industry standard, and is used in the Miniscope project. Thanks for sharing any thoughts you might have!

Hi. We started using KiCAD for all new designs about 2 years ago. KiCAD has excellent conversion tools for EAGLE files (File -> Import Non-KiCAD Project). For this reason, we will not retroactively convert old designs. If you are going to make changes to the board design of an EAGLE based project, its probably best to fork.

We have found KiCAD to be a massive improvement over EAGLE in nearly every way. The Miniscope project uses KiCAD for all recent designs. We definitely suggest giving it a try!
