There are various public sources for medical data of varying quality. This issue tries to provide an organized overview of the most useful ones. Rating of quality of data/service is given in parenthesis.

Health Portals Websites that offer medical and health information for laymen. Usually lots of textual description and no underlying data model. Rough classification in symptoms and diseases which is not always consistent. Most sites offer text-based search functionality.
