Sent this morning!
Thanks to all your hard work and staggering efforts, we've just passed a new milestone in the Open Organization Workbook project. I'm writing to share a project update with all of you.
The project is now in "content freeze." Let me share what that means.
By now (unless you've notified me otherwise) everyone composing a chapter has submitted a first draft of the work—however rough it may be! Working on a "first in, first out" basis, I am reading, editing, and responding to each chapter draft so authors can use this period of the project timeline to revise their work and polish it for publication.
I appreciate your patience as I work through this impressivehttps://github.com/open-organization-ambassadors/open-org-workbook/blob/master/open_org_workbook_galleys.pdf, digital pile of manuscripts. I promise to have feedback for everyone well in advance of the next deadline—November 10—which is the date by which final drafts are due for final typesetting and copy editing.
Incidentally, the book looks fantastic. In the run-up to publication, we're publishing "preview" materials on Opensource.com, so readers get a sense of the stories and exercises that will appear in the volume. To wit: Today we published Angela Robertson's excellent case study from Microsoft.
I am always happy to publish additional "preview" materials from among those submissions that are already well developed and closer to publication. Don't be surprised if I reach out to you about doing this!
Thank you once again for your outstanding work on this project. The workbook is going to be so valuable.
If you have questions while you wait for more correspondence from me, you're more than welcome to contact me.
Now that the book has entered "editing freeze," I need to send the community a project update.
