Hey @michaelwkudla can I ask you to spend an hour or so looking into SymPy? This is what prairielearn uses.

I am wondering how feasible it would be to write our “solutions” in SymPy: https://www.sympy.org/en/index.html

The advantage would be that this takes care of the “solver” you were mentioning, and is also extendable to symbolic solutions
