Current behavior

At the moment, open sauced is GitHub based only. Lots of open source project happen outside of Github though.

Suggested solution

I have no clue how to implement a solution for other platforms. At least, it would be nice to state somewhere if there is a plan to go beyond GitHub, and if not, why.

Thanks for opening this. At the moment the platform is focused on GitHub because we are a small team and the majority of open source happens on GitHub.

We have had conversations with GitLab and plan to eventually support it in the future (no target date).

If anyone wants to capture GitLab or self hosted data they could support this through our https://open-sauced/pizza repo. This microservice is GitHub agnostic and only needs a git remote.

Also for context, you are the first in community to ask for GitLab or forgejo support.

thanks for the super quick answer, I am indeed often the first to question the use of GitHub, but with what happened with twitter, other microsoft tools, and the extended use of AI, I always look for ways to avoid being locked in. Also, I am into open hardware (where a tool similar to open sauced would be very welcome), and some flagship projects are on GitLab instances.
