Getting Started Instructions

BekahHW commented 4 weeks ago

@3x10RaiseTo8 I want to push back against the "Fake accomplishment" thought here.

  1. How do you define accomplishment?
  2. I would like to emphasize that this PR prepares contributors to clone, fork, write issues, and submit a PR. So contributors are learning to participate in the open source lifecycle. This prepares them to contribute to other repositories and be good open source citizens.

@BekahHW, I apologize if it seemed like I criticized the project or the PR preparation negatively. This project is one of the valuable initiatives out there, alongside others like first-contributions and GitHub's 'Skills'.

My case: Despite completing the first-contributions guide and GitHub's Intro mini-course, I found myself still searching for beginner courses rather than applying the skills I had learned to real-world projects. This highlighted a gap in my approach. I realized this and decided to stop. I’m closing this issue as a reminder to my fellow programmers: The most crucial step is starting. Once you’ve taken that first step, it’s important to keep moving forward. Don't get stuck in the search for more beginner resources—focus on applying what you’ve learned.

Also fellow contributors, please don't mention irrelevant or personal issues like I did since the beginning of this thread. It is bad practice. Happy saucing!
