S5148F-ON Support? #83

It appears on the OPX website, the S5148F-ON is still listed as supported. However as of platform-config v1.8.0 it appears support was removed.

Is the S5148F-ON still supported or no?

damn 2yrs with no answer. guess this project is dead dead. i just bought one of these sadly thinking i could run opx but i can't get any interfaces to work at all. they show up in older versions but as soon as you upgrade they disappear. nas service won't start either.

i guess they should probably remove the S5148F from the compatibility list.

in case anybody comes across this and is as flabbergasted as I am at the idea that some asshole removed support for this switch in these packages but didn't actually document it properly or make sure it was updated on the HCL that it's not longer supported..... you can thank rakesh from dell.

I managed to get this switch working by installing vanilla 3.1.0 and not running any package updates on opx packages. Removing the openswitch apt sources and then running apt-get upgrade to allow debian to update system packages worked like a charm. It's unfortunate that someone would remove this for reasons they didn't make known.... maybe because dell no longer supports this switch or something, but why stonewall us out of being able to use anything? It's likely this guy from dell was told to remove it so nobody will buy this switch as cheap as it can currently be acquired. already so insane this thing went EOL after only 8 months...

In any case, we're using this switch in our rack and its working great doing 100gbps lacp bonds to our servers. just extremely frustrating the work i had to do to get this going. we don't want to use os9 and cumulus and sonic are not an option with this switch because its not a broadcom.

Hi @mcalfin, what do you mean by installing vanilla 3.1.0? I got this switch few days ago and tried to install Openswitch on it. I tried installing 3.0.0, 3.1.0, 3.2.0, and 3.2.1 but none was working.
