2021 Election Announcements #852

This issue will contain election announcements as well as the full list of eligible voters. Subscribe to this issue if you wish to be notified of changes. Contact @open-telemetry/otel-elections if you have questions.

If you are not automatically detected as a member of standing, but you believe your contributions should make you eligible to vote, you may request an exemption by filling out a registration form.

Same here, I don't have 20+ contributions even though I would love to contribute more :-) Thanks again to the OpenTelemetry community for all the amazing achievements!

Please don't reply to this issue just to announce you're not interested because all the named people are getting notified (sorry for this message doing the same!) Just unsubscribe from it if you're not interested in following up.

Just keep in mind a comment counts as a contribution for this purpose. I was confused why I was on the list until I read the details. So even this comment here is 5% of the requirement.

The list of candidates in this election is now finalized. Please feel free to review the linked candidate statements and bios in order to make an informed decision!

Instructions for voting will be provided closer to the opening of the voting period (midnight GMT on October 25).

Voting will open on Oct 25 at 0000 GMT at https://vote.heliosvoting.org/helios/elections/bbeab1b8-1406-11ec-b980-eacead3a3158/view

Please go ahead and log in at bottom of page to register an account with Helios using your github account, so that we can debug any access issues well in advance of the voting window opening. You should see "You are registered to vote in this election" if successfully matched to your voter record.

The deadline to submit an exception request to the member of standing criteria for voting is in two days on Oct 24.

@lizthegrey when I did GH auth I got an HTTP 500 after the redirect

LMK if there are other details I can/should provide.

thanks for the report. if anyone else is seeing this, rather than commenting here, please see https://github.com/benadida/helios-server/issues/328 -- you'll need to go to https://github.com/settings/emails to verify your primary email address so that we can send you confirmation that you have voted etc.

it worked fine for me (the login button in the bottom left is unorthodox)

Voting is now open at https://vote.heliosvoting.org/helios/e/otel-gc-2021 and will be open for 72 hours until 2359 GMT on 2021-10-27.

The election subcommittee has reviewed all pending requests for exceptions to the member of standing requirement, and sent out ballots to those who qualified.

Please double-check that we have a sealed and submitted ballot for you. If your vote was successfully submitted, you will have an email from Helios Voting Bot <no-reply@mail.heliosvoting.org>, and you also should see your ballot id in https://vote.heliosvoting.org/helios/elections/bbeab1b8-1406-11ec-b980-eacead3a3158/voters/list

Importantly, you will need to either log in prior to entering the voting booth, or log in after sealing your ballot before you are allowed to submit the sealed ballot. Your vote will not be counted until it has been authenticated against the voter rolls.

You can also change your vote at any time before the deadline of 2359 GMT on October 27 by submitting a replacement sealed ballot.

169 out of 386 eligible individuals cast ballots (43.8% turnout).

The winners are @bhs @tedsuo @yurishkuro @bogdandrutu and @jpkrohling. Thank you to all the emeritus governance committee members, everyone who stood for election, and everyone who voted!
