I'd like to ... figure out whether Open Traits Networks should have a presence at 52nd Annual Meeting of the Ecological Society of Germany, Austria and Switzerland #250

Hi!

I just got an email from Martin Winter, one of the folks at iDiv in Leipzig. iDiv is the institution that hosted our last workshop.

Should Open Trait Networks members present/discuss our collaboration and data integration model at 52nd Annual Meeting of the Ecological Society of Germany, Austria and Switzerland ?

Dear sDiv guests & interested colleagues

I hope all of you had a smooth & healthy start into 2023!

In 2023, iDiv will host the 52nd Annual Meeting of the Ecological Society of Germany, Austria and Switzerland (GfÖ), taking place from 12-16 September at the Neues Augusteum of Leipzig University. The conference will highly international with an exciting program.

The overarching theme is/can be highly related to synthesis research: “The future of biodiversity – overcoming barriers of taxa, realms and scales”. I encourage you to organise and chair sessions and to forward the call to your networks. Please consider joining us in Leipzig for this surely nice conference.

The call for sessions is online, and proposals can be submitted until 10 February 2023 to http://www.gfoe-conference.de/.

The next years will be dedicated to developing strategies to implement the post2020 Global Biodiversity Framework of the Convention of Biological Diversity (CBD) to foster a healthy, resilient, and biodiverse planet. Therefore, the 52nd GfÖ Annual Meeting will be held under the motto “The future of biodiversity – overcoming barriers of taxa, realms and scales”. We are looking forward to discussing the threats and options for a positive Earth’s future jointly with colleagues working in all ecosystems & with all taxa. Only by overcoming subdisciplinary barriers we can successfully tackle the grand challenges of humanity.

We look forward to receiving your proposal!

Warm regards,

Marten Winter

on behalf of the conference Chairs & orga committee

@jhpoelen I think that it's a great idea! Are you thinking about a special session or just a talk? If a special session we should hurry a bit (deadline is soon).

@caterinap good to hear from you!

Are you thinking about a special session or just a talk?

That depends on the interest of folks. I feel that you, @iimog @chiras @Daniel-Mietchen and others based in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and surrounding areas might have some intuition on the interest, effort and reward on putting something together.

What do you think?

If we go for a talk, I'm happy to help draft a submission. Shall we use a new file under /_posts/ for that or set up a new folder or draft it off GitHub?
