Hanging on launch #2929

Current Behavior

When I run "npx @open-wa/wa-automate --socket -p 5000" it hangs saying "√ Authenticated � 100%:ng for Loading your". Last week it would get beyond this and give the expected output about listening but now it is just hanging here again.

Expected Behavior

Give the expected output about listening

Steps To Reproduce

  1. Python VE
  2. I'm not sure about how to say what config
  3. Run "npx @open-wa/wa-automate --socket -p 5000"
  4. No error, just does not progress past "100%:ng for Loading your"

create() code OR full CLI command + CONFIG

Anything else?

It was downloading all the files each time I ran until I ran this command first. "npm i --save @open-wa/wa-automate@latest" After that, I got the expected behavior.

Thank you for your reply. Today I tried the command I have been running, "npx @open-wa/wa-automate --socket -p 5000" and I am getting this error message.

When I had the hanging issue the other day, I simply deleted the files that
it creates, ran it again and it worked from there. Here is what I get when
I run the command that you just gave me from here.

This attempted to open a Chromium browser to login/authenticate to Whatsapp but it never presented a QR code so it didn't work. I then deleted the files created by the processing (I was running with an admin command prompt so not all the files were deleted), ran it again, and had the same result, a browser session that would not load the QR code. I also tried the other command, "npx @open-wa/wa-automate --socket -p 5000" and got the same error that I reported at the beginning of this email

@caseygierke Not quite sure what's going on with your instance.

My hunch would be that there is something up with the windows setup that may be causing this? Try on a ubuntu server or a mac if you can.

My other guess would be that for some reason your session is corrupted? In which case I suggest you to try with a new session id which should give you a fresh qr code to scan. Please remember to keep the session running for several minutes after scanning the first time to make sure it will successfully relaunch on subsequent process restarts.

Good call on the ubuntu. I have a wsl I can try it on. I would think that my session being corrupted should be resolved by deleting the files. I was able to do that and tried again and was getting the original error where it would hang on loading you messages. I just ran that command you sent and I'll paste the output below. Yes, the open-wa was used in the course on udemy.

Hi Casey, from the logs it looks like you're using an old version of chrome

error: TimeoutError: Timed out after 30000 ms while trying to connect to
the browser! Only Chrome at revision r1002410 is guaranteed to work.

Few ways to fix:

  1. Delete node_modules thennpm i --save puppeteer @open-wa/wa-automate, then run the npx command again.
  2. Install a recent version of chrome in the environment and use the --use-chrome flag with the npx command.

Can you please tell Jay Kumar to email me at shah@openwa.dev - I want to make sure that there are no blind spots in the tutorials.

Also, again, this can be resolved a bit quicker over chat on discord - click the discord badge in the readme for an invite.
