This is #9. In our initial phase our users didn't need this, but if there's demand it's a really strong candidate for inclusion in a future version.

In the meantime, it's straightforward to include this as a custom field. I'd suggest it be called detour_geography, and contain a <gml:LineString> or <gml:MultiLineString>.
