Set map icon color based on severity

The color of the event icon should depend on the severity (and possibility if currently within start/end dates)

Color should also take into account if the event is published or not. For a logged administrator, unpublished events should be grey or faded (for the public, it should not appear at all).

How should appear events that are published and active BUT not within their start/end date.

This is going to be a tricky one. How much information can we encode into the map marker, without the map becoming confusing and crowded?

At the moment there are three marker colours:

• orange, default
• green, the selected event
• gray, archived events (though of course this will never be seen in the default view, since that's active events only)

Possibilities for information to display:

• unpublished events (a little lock icon in the corner?)
• severity: we have four types (minor, moderate, major, undefined). maybe change the colour of the outer white border of the marker icon?
• event type?
• whether an event is or is not active right now; though that adds a bunch of hassle with having to reevaluate this and redraw markers every minute or so as time passes
• whether an event does or does not have any current or future active periods. but could there be potential confusion here with archived events? also, I'd need to think a bit more about how many timezone issues would be involved in trying to calculate this
