Alarms should be suppressed

• alarms must be suppressed in the event-management-system
• alarms should be suppressed already on device level (e.g. if some worker in the field needs to work on the device, he should not see wrong alarms); this functionality might need to be requested from the device vendors
• it must be ensured that alarms are only for the turned-off link and not for other alarms on the device
• once the app is turned off, it must be ensured that alarms are turned back on
• in case there are alarms, it must be made transparent that these are not real alarms, but just caused by the deliberate turn-off

Currently unknown alarms Almost certainly alarms will be raised during activating the power saving mode. Unfortunately, it is currently unknown, which alarms will be raised by the individual device. It is assumed that they will differ by device type and individual device configuration.

Choice of complex countermeasures There are several ways of fighting these alarms, e.g.:

• preparation and clean up configurations (e.g. temporarily deactivating XPIC and dismantling the co-channel configuration )
• temporarily deactivating the expected alarms on the device
• applying proprietary power saving implementations on the device

Each of the countermeasures requires a complex configuration activity by itself.

Conflict with time target The following activities would be required:

• Analyzing the alarms in the laboratory
• Evaluating, comparing and deciding about countermeasures
• (potentially expanding the harmonized (ONF) management interface)
• defining the modules It is expected that these activities will take several months. Management is expecting the AIPS to run in a field trial until latest end of January 2024.

Proposal 1: The AIPS v1.0.0 shall be implemented without any countermeasures against alarms. Occurring alarms shall be analyzed while testing AIPS v1.0.0 in the SDN laboratory and during the field trial. Countermeasures shall be implemented in a future release of the AIPS.
